Best Drives in Scotland: Stirling to Inverness

You could even start the drive as soon as you drive off Your Camper’s forecourt in Glasgow, which will only add an extra 45 minutes to the journey. Then, simply follow the A9 past Perth and through the Cairngorms National Park, all the way up to Inverness.

 

Stirling

Before departing on your journey from Stirling, the city’s impressive medieval castle is worth a visit. The National Wallace Monument is also one to see, set on the Abbey Craig hilltop overlooking the site of William Wallace’s defeat of the English in the 1927 Battle of Stirling Bridge.

 

Perth

The drive from Sterling to Perth takes around 45 minutes and a key place of interest in this city is Scone Palace. This attraction holds great historic significance as the site where the kings and queens of Scotland were all crowned on the Stone of Destiny.

 

Killiecrankie

Killiecrankie is another great place to stop on your journey to Inverness. Surrounded by woodland, the pass of Killiecrankie is a beautiful spot to stretch your legs after all of the driving, with a number of easily accessible trails. If you are a thrill seeker, the bridge spanning the pass is also a popular bungee jumping hotspot!

 

Cairngorms National Park

Once you move on from Killiecrankie, you can really begin to enjoy the peaceful green countryside of Scotland as you drive through the Cairngorms National Park. Here you can find breath-taking landscapes and plenty of hikes.

 

Inverness

Inverness is the perfect place to end your trip. There is plenty to do in this city, from visiting its Castle and Cathedral to shopping or picnicking by the peaceful River Ness.
