Campervan checklist
Heading for the hills or cruising towards the coast? Here are our essentials for van life plus the extras and tools you may need along the way. Have a read and enjoy your trip!
Essentials
If you have your campervan and your bed sorted, you’re a lot further forward than most. However, there are a few other essentials you need to consider for van life. Comfy bedding is a must have for catching those z’s at night, something to cook your food on and utensils, camping chairs for sitting and watching those sunsets and bin bags are all deemed as essentials in our book. We would also put a headtorch and some extra batteries in this category.
Extras
If you want to travel in a little more luxury, we recommend a camping table (a foldaway one will do the trick) so you can eat like civilised humans and even whack out a card or board game every now and then. You might want to consider a porch or awning for the van to extend your living space a little further. An electric hook-up would come in handy and maybe even a camping toilet to avoid midnight trips to the shower block.
Kitchen
Outside of the basic items, you will want to make sure you have charcoal for your BBQ (if you're not using the built in stove or microwave). Cleaning equipment and wet wipes are a vital part of your camping kitchen, plus plates and cutlery. The ever-forgotten tin opener is always a handy one plus a corkscrew and a bottle opener if you’re having a beverage or two of an evening.
Safety
Make sure you have enough medication with you if you take something regularly. Sun cream and insect repellent should always be stocked up along with a first aid kit. Antibacterial handwash and toilet roll should also be on board at all times!
