Colder weather in a camper

Winter is coming but that doesn’t mean it’s time to abandon the vanlife. There are plenty of things you can do to enjoy your camper in the colder British months. Here are some of our tips but if you have any others to share, please let us know.

Cover your windows

At night, cover up your windows to keep the heat in. whether you use a towel or something purpose built, you will definitely notice the difference. It will stop your teeth chattering in the night and will mean you don’t quite wake up at the crack of dawn. It’s a small hack but totally worth trying for a more comfortable sleep in winter. All our campers come with thermal front window covers as standard, but it could be worth getting similar ones for the rear too!

Choose your flooring

All our campers are insulated, including under the floor nut you might want to invest in a rug or a carpet to keep your toes cosy. It seems like a tiny factor but trust us, it will make a difference. If you’re shopping for a van, look at the kind of flooring you want and make shopping for a rug part of your plan!

Layer up

The wonders of an extra layer! Whether it’s a hoody or a hat, or even an extra blanket at night, prepare to be cosy and make sure you have enough extras with you for when the cold spell hits.

Keep your strength up

Stay fed and watered, like a plant! You don’t want to be hungry when its cold and a flask of tea is a dream in the cold weather. We know we’re not talking arctic conditions, but it does pay to be prepared.

Embrace it

Some of the best views we have seen and the best experiences we have had – have been in the colder months! You can see some amazing wintery sights and chances are, there will be less people around too. Make sure you prepare for the weather ahead and embrace van life in the Winter. Where are you heading to in the next few months?
