Finding a dog friendly campsite
You would be forgiven for thinking that all campsites would be dog-friendly but that’s not always the case! If you’re hitting the road in your campervan with your four-legged friend, check out our tips for finding a good, dog friendly campsite.
Check ahead
It is always worth checking in advance that where you plan on staying is dog friendly. It may sound like an obvious tip but there is nothing worse than turning up, only to find you can’t stay and all your plans are scarpered. Most campsites are fine with dogs, but you don’t want to be caught short. You can check online or phone ahead.
Walking spots
If you have a furry family member, you will know that a morning walk is part and parcel of your daily routine. Finding a campsite that is close to some good walking spots is a must, unless you want to do laps of the campsite with your dog on a lead! Check Google Maps to find good walking routes, woodland and river walks.
Find some shade
A shady spot is difficult to find – trust us, we have tried to find one to get those lie-ins! But when you have a dog, it is worth the extra scoping, so you can all be that bit more comfortable. Failing that, try and park the back end of your van towards the sunset, so the sun will rise on the front of the van!
Get familiar
Get to know the local area and the dog friendly attractions nearby. We know part of Vanlife is the freedom and exploring but a little planning never hurt anyone!
If you’re ready for vanlife and just don’t have the van yet or are in need or an upgrade, find a campervan in Glasgow at Your Camper! See you and your four legged friend soon!
