Summer Adventures
Summer is coming and what better time to explore the wonders of Scotland? Before you pack up your camper for the weekend and head out on the road, here are our top tips on how to get the best out of camping in the Summer.
Preparation is key
We know all too well just how tempting it is to hop in the van and see where the road takes you but as Scotland gets busier in the summer months, it is good to prepare a little. Planning your journey is a great way to get the most out of your trip, consider where you’re going to pitch up and camp, where you’re going to eat and where you’ll re-fuel. It may also be a good opportunity to explore the lesser known parts of Scotland and keep away from the flocking tourists.
Tidy van, tidy mind
Heading out in your camper is always fun but can be made less so by an odd shoe or week-old sandwich wrapper taking up residence in your door pocket. Before you hit the road, check your van for unnecessary items and give it a spruce up ready for the journey ahead. You may also want to check the air in your tyres and your windscreen wiper fluid!
Checklist at the ready
Scotland is beautiful but it is also unpredictable. Make sure you get your checklist out and pack for rain or shine. The weather could turn in an instant and you don’t want to be caught in a shower with no coat and flip flops. Another thing to pack is insect repellent as some parts of the country can get pretty wild with small flying creatures – and we don’t mean the fairies in the Isle of Skye!
