Surfing in the UK
If you love feeling the waves crashing against you and can actually stand up when you surf, we applaud you. In all seriousness, there are some amazing spots to surf in the UK, so here are some of our top picks.
Watergate Bay, Cornwall
According to the experts, you will be able to surf in most tides which is a sure advantage. It is also home to the English National Surfing Championships so you know you’re in good company whether you’re a pro or a beginner. Not to mention, it is an absolutely gorgeous part of Cornwall.
Sennen Cove, Cornwall
Cornwall, again? We can’t help it, there were too many good spots to only include on but Sennen Cove is perfect for beginners if you head to the South End of the beach. The waves are much smaller so you can get the hang of things before moving up the beach…
Saltburn, North Yorkshire
Now, Saltburn is allegedly home to some of the most challenging Reef Breaks in England, but with a friendly vibe and plenty of regulars to help you out, this is a great surf spot no matter what your ability. With a kit hire shop nearby, you will have everything you need to enjoy the waves.
Woolacombe, Devon
For the more experienced surfers no doubt and it is traditionally quite a busy spot. That doesn’t mean you should avoid it though and it is right next to the town, how convenient! If you’re prepared to walk, you will be able to find a less-crowded spot as there are three miles to pick from.
