The future is electric

With the motor industry shifting towards favouring zero-emission vehicles, we look to the future of camping. Read on for our guide for upcoming electric vans that will help us camp sustainably…

Volkswagen is one of the most successful car manufacturers in the UK, with a pioneering attitude towards motoring. It is that forward-thinking attitude that has led them to create the newest range of their vehicles; the electric vans!

Camping has become synonymous with VW, thanks to their wonderfully designed vans that have provided pleasure to hippies and petrolheads alike. Now, the iconic vans that we have come to love are due an upgrade.

Though they are yet to be released, there is a real excitement about the release of the range of electric vans soon to be hitting the market. Perhaps most excitingly is that these vans are, quite simply, reimagined versions of VW bestsellers.

The ABT e-transporter is a fully electric version of the popular campervan, promising zero carbon emissions as well as not compromising on load space (thanks to an underfloor battery). The prospect of “clean-camping” is becoming popular and this move by VW is likely to come as a welcome treat.

The e-Crafter is a much larger van that will hopefully be favoured by the working industry, as it has maintained all the power of its predecessor without that dastardly carbon footprint! It has promised a 107-mile range on a single charge, so it would also be practical for those seeking a carbon-free camping holiday.

Perhaps most excitingly comes the ID. Buzz. This is a modern take on the iconic camper that started it all, the legendary T1 but reimagined with a sleek design and updated interface. With a touch-sensitive steering wheel, moveable LED headlights and VW’s usual space-saving efficiency, this is sure to be a hit among motoring enthusiasts.

Unfortunately, the electric models are yet to be released and dates are not yet confirmed, so if you are thirsty for adventure and need a campervan in Glasgow, get in touch with us at Your Camper where we will be happy to help.
