Tips for your first trip

Heading on your first trip or adventure? We have got you covered. Read on for our top tips to keep you calm, cool and collected.

A practice stay

Before you head out on a big adventure, we recommend ‘having a go’ first. Stay close to home and make sure you have everything you need, so there will be no nasty surprises when you end up 500 miles from home.

Pack light

You don’t need the kitchen sink and you’re not going to outer Mongolia. This sounds like a contradiction from the point above but there is a difference between packing what you need and what we like to call - panic packing. Make a list, check it twice, and then decide what you really need.

Toilet etiquette

When nature calls, you’ve got to go but try and plan accordingly. If you see a toilet on your travels, do as your mother would have told you and try to squeeze one out. No one likes being woken up in the middle of the night because their other half had an extra glass of water…

Fuel when you find it

Being on the road is great but depending where you go *cough, The Highlands* fuel stops can be few and far between. Yes, it’s part of the natural beauty and we love driving through unspoiled scenery but one thing it has taught us, is to fuel up when you find it.

Stay organised

There’s nothing worse than a messy van. Trust us, we have been there. Stay organised and make sure everything has a home in the campervan.

Meal prep

Think about what or where you’re going to eat. Are you planning on cooking or heading out for a meal? Of course, you can wing it but for the first time around, it is good to have a plan of attack.
