How to Prepare for Your Campervan Road Trip
A campervan road trip is always a fun and memorable experience. Before you can hit the open road and enjoy your freedom, though, there are some key things you'll want to think about first, including packing your campervan. Here are a few essential preparations that we recommend for every campervan adventure:
Pack some food and snacks
You'll need to make sure you have enough food and snacks for your trip. You should also bring plenty of water to stay hydrated (especially if the weather is warm). Prepare early and buy as many of your long-lasting snacks and food as you can before your trip. Smaller snacks like cereal bars to give you a quick boost are perfect when you're driving long stretches. If you end up running low, you can always stock up when necessary throughout the road trip.
Bring a camera
You'll want to capture as many memories as you can of your trip. You can, of course, take all these pictures on your phone, but it could also be fun to use a disposable or instant camera to get some unique snaps. If you're into making scrapbooks, this would be a great opportunity for that too. If you're feeling creative, you could even bring along a notebook and do some sketches of the beautiful sights you'll be seeing.

Don't forget about entertainment
For those long stretches of road, you're going to need something to keep your passengers entertained. Bringing a few books is always a good way to relax and pass some time. A pack of cards is a simple and time-tested source of fun that you can use to play a few games with your fellow road trippers. If you're bringing along the kids, you might want to bring a laptop or tablet so they can watch a few films. You'll want a portable charger too to keep your phone and other electronic devices charged.
Spend at least one night around a campfire
Gathering around a campfire makes for a chance to share some great stories and even toast a few marshmallows. If you're going somewhere suitable, we recommend spending a night out by a fire. Make sure to check beforehand whether there are any rules against lighting fires in the area where you're camping. Always keep a bucket of water or some method of extinguishing on standby too, and clean up afterwards thoroughly.

Pack duvets/blankets to keep warm
For those cool nights, don’t forget your duvet or blanket. Duvets are warm and comfy but don’t take up much room in the van. You can also use them as pillows if you have no sleeping bag with you. Blankets are easy to store in the back of your campervan and they will keep you warm when needed. Another top tip is to put them in your cupboards with loose belongings to keep things from sliding around while you're out on the road.
And with that, you’re off! Now that you have all your campervan holiday essentials, it’s time to hit the open road. Just remember to be safe and enjoy your trip—we know that it’s going to be an unforgettable experience!
