There are over 15 variations of VW Transporter currently on the market today which gives customers great amounts of flexibility, however, can be confusing to get your head around.
VW Transporter T6.1
The T6 Volkswagen Transporter was originally launched in 2015, and the T6.1 came along as a major facelift in 2019. This version is very similar to the T5 under the bodywork, however, the most noticeable differences are in appearance, driver comfort, safety, and running costs.
The VW Transporter T6.1 comes in two main models; the Startline and Trendline. Sportline will later be added to this lineup, which will be a much more luxurious van, while Startline offers the most basic trim level.

However, this van really makes a statement thanks to its sleeker front end, featuring a completely refreshed front bumper, grille, side repeaters, and sharp front headlights.

Also, inside the Transporter T6.1, there is an up-to-date infotainment system that features Composition Colour, Discover Media with sat nav, and Discover Pro. App Connect also now comes as standard which enables mirroring of mobile phones and access to certain apps while on the move and enhances the overall driving experience.
New electromechanical power steering increases on-road performance and allows for the installation of a variety of new safety systems, among other mechanical upgrades. These include standard park assist, lane assist, side protection, trailer assist, rear traffic alert, and traffic sign recognition (on top of the previous model's automatic post-collision braking system, front assist with city emergency braking, driver alert, and trailer stabilisation), as well as park assist, lane assist, side protection, trailer assist, rear traffic alert, and traffic sign recognition. The T6.1 transporter also has a new set of engines that all comply with Euro 6D-Temp emissions criteria (also known as Euro 6.2).
The VW T6.1 Engine Range
As for the engines, the majority of VW T6.1 models are powered by the VW group's classic 2.0L TDI turbodiesel engine which gives motorists outputs of 84bhp to 204bhp. In 2017, some more economical petrol engines were released, known as the 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engines, aimed at buyers concerned about lowering their emissions. These petrol engines were discontinued in 2018, however, some are still around.
The T6.1 is a van that has everything you could need - style, practicality, and safety and it's one of the only medium-sized vans on the market that continues to hold its value well to this day.
Differences between VW Transporter T26, T27, T28, T30, and T32 models
In addition to the trims and models mentioned above, the vehicles are also available in T26, T27, T28, T30, and T32 configurations.
This number represents the vehicle's maximum weight, and the greater the number, the greater the payload. The T26 is one of the lightest, at 2.6 tonnes max vehicle weight, while the T32 has a higher payload, at 3.2 tonnes.
